We’re delighted to share that Sam Capstick has joined the Goodmans board as a Director, further strengthening our independence and client-focused, sustainable growth.

Sam has long been a key figure within Goodmans, both as a Financial Planner and as a senior leader heading up our Exeter office. Now, he steps into the highest tier of our leadership team, joining Andrew Moore, David Byworth, Holly Moody and Laura Milroy on the board.

It was a natural progression. Over the last eight-and-a-half years, Sam’s commitment, leadership and influence have been clear to all of us at Director level", Laura Milroy explained.“This move not only acknowledges that work but formally cements the role – it’s a hugely well‑earned milestone.”

Sam's journey

Since joining us in 2017, Sam has enhanced Goodmans with his technical knowledge, professionalism, warmth and humour, building trusted relationships with the team and clients alike. As part of the Goodmans adventures to the Dolomites and Romania, he’s also racked up a few miles hiking with clients!

Here's what Sam had to say about his appointment:
“Goodmans has shaped me both personally and professionally. To step into this role is a privilege, but more importantly, it’s a responsibility – one I carry with huge respect for our clients, our team and the values that make this place what it is. My focus remains exactly where it started all those years ago: serving people with care, clarity and real human connection.”

Strengthening Goodmans

Sam’s graduation to Director marks another important step in our ongoing commitment to remain independent, client‑focused and growing sustainably as a business.

Since 2022, we’ve welcomed four homegrown Directors (now including Sam) – to our executive team. By building the next generation of leaders from within, we – and our clients – can be confident that our decision-makers share our culture, values and commitment to excellent client service in the years ahead.

Our transition to an Employee Ownership Trust in 2023 was another important milestone. Employee ownership safeguards our independence, keeps the strategic direction firmly in the hands of our team and allows everyone at Goodmans to share in our success. Most importantly, it provides clients with continuity and confidence that the same values and calibre of service will continue long into the future.

Welcoming Sam as a Director is another summit reached on our collective climb – one that strengthens our ability to keep moving forward.

Huge congratulations, Sam!
