Team Spotlight: Nikki Law, Service Manager

Goodmans Client Lunch 26-79 (1)

Many of you will have spoken to Nikki as she’s been a valuable part of our client service team since 2022. Based in our Plymouth office, Nikki supports the team and clients alongside studying to become a Paraplanner, gradually swapping checklists for financial plans and adding more expertise to her already impressive skillset.

As well as developing her technical skills in the world of finance, Nikki brings a creative flair to the team with her degree in fine art. Although her days are less filled with sketches and paintbrushes, she still pursues her love of art through visiting art galleries as well as finding natural beauty in new cities and countries, her most recent being Bucharest.

Time to put her under the spotlight.

Hi Nikki, thank you for stepping into our spotlight. First question: how would you describe your work in three words?

Fast-paced, collaborative, rewarding.

That sounds accurate for such a busy role. How about what keeps you smiling at work every day?

The people – the Goodmans team and the clients! I love being part of such a great team, who all make a difference in our clients’ lives.

That’s so sweet, and we love that you’re part of the team too! We know you love a good book, what’s on your reading list at the moment?

I mainly read fiction but don’t stick to one genre. I tend to pick up whatever I’m in the mood for! Two favourites of mine are Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver and Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn.

That’s quite a range and two good recommendations, thank you. What keeps you busy when you’re not at work or an art gallery?

I’m currently learning to drive so, between driving lessons and studying for exams, there’s not a lot of spare time left in the diary. But when I do have some downtime, I like to spend it with friends and family, trying new local food spots which really brings out the foodie inside me. And of course, I’ll never pass up an opportunity to go on holiday!

Good luck on your upcoming tests and we’ll be sure to watch out on the roads from now on! Tricky question now: what is the best thing about the South West for you?

It’s definitely the social aspect for me, having a close support network is really important and luckily most of my friends and family live in Plymouth. Also in the summer, living on the coast gives easy access to the beach or to venture down to Cornwall and explore the hidden gems there.

We’ll join you on the next beach day, so long as there’s ice cream! Last question: can you tell us a quote or phrase that goes through life with you?

It’s not exactly a profound phrase, but ‘you do you’ comes to mind; I think it's important to be true to yourself and do what feels right for you regardless of what others think!

We agree, life is much more interesting when people embrace what makes them unique. Thank you for sharing with us Nikki, it’s been a pleasure to talk to you.
