The Goodmans 2026 client lunch

At Goodmans, we value lasting relationships with clients and see ourselves as partners in helping them achieve their best lives, not just their financial goals. We know Goodmans wouldn’t still be going strong after 30+ years without our clients' loyalty, trust and support.

Our annual client lunch is our way of saying thanks and celebrating that client community. It's also a great excuse for the whole team to enjoy social time with clients away from the office.

Now in its ninth year, this year’s lunch brought us together with around 140 clients to Sandy Park in Exeter for a gourmet three-course meal. Here’s how the day unfolded.

Coffee and catch ups

The day began with hellos, introductions and happy reunions between our team and guests. For some clients, it was their first time joining us; for others it’s a chance to catch up with friends and former colleagues. Some even come every year and ask to sit together!

An official welcome from Sam

Sam Capstick, Financial Planner and head of our Exeter office, welcomed everyone with his trademark humour and shared his thoughts on becoming Goodmans’ newest Director. It's been a big year for Sam as he also become a dad for the first time in October... which he said explains why his trousers have shrunk in all the hot washes now happening at home!

Goodmans update from Andrew

With so many clients gathered in one place, the lunch is also the perfect opportunity to share what’s been happening across Goodmans and how we continue to look after our clients’ money. This year, our Managing Director, Andrew Moore, covered:

Our guest speaker entertains

After a delicious three-course lunch, this year’s guest speaker, Tim FitzHigham, took to the stage to entertain the room. An award-winning comedian, adventurer, presenter and author, Tim is known for taking on brilliantly eccentric historical challenges, from paddling a paper boat 160 miles along the Thames to becoming the first person to row the English Channel in a bathtub. His latest adventure is restoring the UK’s oldest working theatre, where he has helped uncover what's believed to be the original floor from Shakespeare’s performances there in the 1590s.

We enjoyed hearing Tim's tales of his quirky, diverse and inspiring adventures, followed by a Q&A session.

Reflections on our client lunch

Our 2026 client lunch is perhaps best captured in our video, which features reflections from one of our newest clients, Chris Carter, on his experience with Goodmans so far. It’s so lovely to hear Chris talk about the welcoming, family-feel of Goodmans.

It was Chris’s first client lunch — hopefully the first of many!

Thank you to Chris and to every single client who came and helped make it such a great day. We look forward to doing it all again next year!

Goodmans clients will be able to see more about the client lunch in the next issue of our magazine, Unleashed.
